When the cold temperatures hit, I started to imagine being back on the shores of Lake Como.
I thought about one warm afternoon and a cold glass of white wine alongside a generous plate of spaghetti alle vongole. I thought about getting up early to play tennis at Grand Hotel Tremezzo to work up an appetite for their divine breakfast. I thought about climbing aboard ferries for slow, scenic chugs to other towns along the lake.
One morning, after seeing two wooden boats bobbing at the docks of Grand Hotel Tremezzo, we decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary with a private ride. Our captain, Beppo, gave us a few options for itineraries and popped a bottle of prosecco as we motored out into the lake. We saw villas and gardens, small collections of waterfront houses, charming villages, and a waterfall.
On Lake Como, you’re never too far from a boat, big or small, to set out and see what you find.
